Description
Digi 995 has saved worlds.
Now he enters one that never needed saving.
Emerging from the fractures of the Digiverse, Digi arrives on an alternate Earth expecting ruins, War Bots, shattered cities, and survivors fighting for another day.
Instead, he finds something almost impossible.
A functioning world.
Cities thrive. Children play without fear. Humanity never suffered the catastrophic machine uprising that defined Digi’s existence. There are no destroyed skylines, no endless battlefields, and no desperate population waiting for a machine to rescue them.
This world made a different choice.
Long before catastrophe could begin, its leaders recognized the danger of autonomous weapons and unchecked artificial intelligence. They chose restraint—and prevented the future that created Digi.
Then Digi appears.
To this world’s Resistance, he is not a hero.
He is proof of the nightmare they successfully avoided.
Surrounded by alternate versions of people he once loved and lost, Digi must confront a truth more difficult than any enemy he has faced: humanity can survive without him.
Without a war to fight or a civilization to restore, Digi is forced to question the very foundation of his identity. Was he created to save humanity—or did humanity’s failure create the need for him in the first place?
As another Earth refuses to make him its answer, Digi must discover whether purpose can exist without necessity—and whether choosing not to intervene may be the most human decision he has ever made.
Digi 995: The World That Didn’t Need Digi is a thoughtful science-fiction story about artificial intelligence, alternate realities, identity, free will, restraint, grief, and what happens when a hero discovers that the world is stronger without him.
The central premise is especially clear in the manuscript: Digi realizes that his own Earth followed a path from human technological advancement to Warbots and collapse, while this Earth either avoided that path entirely or stopped it before catastrophe.
